Singapore's National Heritage Board will study the Oxley Road site to assess if it is worthy of being preserved as a national monument. It noted that Singaporeans have a “diverse range of views” on the matter and added that if it makes an order to preserve the site, the government "will have the time needed" to consider the different options identified in the 2018 ministerial committee report on 38 Oxley Road.
Foreign domestic workers can now learn basic medical skills to look after employers who have conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. This follows a SingHealth Polyclinics study which showed that less than half of the hired helpers are equipped to support the healthcare needs of the elderly. Former Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang says he was not told party leaders had given former MP Raeesah Khan any instructions to clarify her lie. Around half of all new Build-to-Order projects will use robots for tasks like painting starting next year. The Housing and Development Board says this is to reduce reliance on manpower and be more productive. It is piloting the use of technology at Garden Waterfront I & II at Tengah, so cranes are more efficient and precise, getting the job done faster and with less labour. Inflation in Singapore has remained elevated in September. It came in higher than economists' forecasts, driven by retail goods and other products. Core inflation, which excludes transport and accommodation, rose for a second straight month, hitting 2.8 per cent from August's 2.7 per cent. Kate Low reports.
