Patients who have suffered a mild to moderate stroke will be getting more help to reintegrate into the community. Up to 2,000 patients and their caregivers will benefit from a new programme by the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) that will be rolled out next year. The Temasek Foundation is putting in $1.4 million to fund it for three years. Stroke survivors will go through a four-module empowerment course to build their confidence. The programme will be introduced at the Singapore General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. CNA spoke to Assoc Prof Deidre Anne de Silva, senior consultant of neurology at the NNI, and stroke survivor Reema Bhatti.
A damaged water pipe left large parts of Marine Parade flooded for hours. The ankle-deep waters blocked roads and slowed traffic to a crawl. Marine Parade MP Tan See Leng said the pipe was damaged during lift-retrofitting works at a pedestrian overhead bridge on Marine Drive. The damaged pipe has been isolated and repairs are ongoing. National water agency PUB said the damaged pipe is a potable water pipe that serves the Marine Drive area. There was no impact on water supply to nearby residents. Rachel Teng reports.
Singapore is putting in place a three-pronged approach to prevent and detect money laundering. A new network will help government agencies connect the dots faster by involving all relevant government agencies, instead of just selected agencies. Ang Yuit, president of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) shares how effective these initiatives are as deterrence measures, how they might affect Singapore's overall reputation as a global business hub, and what the ASME is doing to ensure its members are not engaged in money laundering.
New measures unveiled to address money laundering in Singapore will see more inter-agency data sharing, as well as inactive companies struck off and businesses roped in to 'red-flag' suspicious activities. These measures will be rolled out progressively over the next year. Meanwhile, people who work with high-value items, such as luxury cars and expensive art, will also undergo specialised training to recognise the telltale signs of suspicious transactions. And, in a few years, Singapore government agencies will have access to all reports of suspicious transactions on an online platform called NAVIGATE. Nasyrah Rohim and Nadirah Zaidi report.

Most Singaporeans don't really know what makes a healthy diet. A study by FairPrice found that while most agree a healthy meal is a balanced one, less than a quarter actually know what goes into making a balanced diet.
