President Mohammed Shahabuddin has dissolved parliament, paving the way for the formation of an interim government. Young people in Singapore might not be the "strawberry generation" they have been perceived to be - soft, easily bruised and pessimistic. New research finds them largely satisfied with life, with more of them bouncing back from the COVID-19 pandemic with resilience. This is based on a six-year study by the Institute of Policy Studies and the National Youth Council. The Institute of Policy Studies and the National Youth Council surveyed more than 3,000 young Singaporeans aged 17 to 24 over a six-year period ended 2022. They found that nearly two of three respondents remained satisfied with their lives. CNA speaks to Dr Chew Han Ei, adjunct senior research fellow at the NUS Institute of Policy Studies, and David Chua, CEO of the National Youth Council Singapore.

Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said Bukit Panjang LRT is expected to become more reliable, with new train cars added. Two are already up and running, with the aim to upgrade the entire fleet of the 25-year-old line by 2026. New features include LCD monitors that display routes clearly, energy-saving LED lights and an upgraded air-con system. The new train cars will also be fitted with systems and sensors to better monitor and detect faults. Among the 20 deals signed at the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council meeting is one on exploring opportunities in driverless taxis. Singapore-based ComfortDelGro has signed a deal with Pony.ai to explore large-scale commercial robotaxi operations in China. There are over 50 Singapore entities in the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. In 2023 alone, Knowledge City achieved a 21% GDP growth, reaching about US$4.2 billion. Deborah Wong reports.
