Les législateurs américains ont dépassé les clivages politiques pour parvenir à un accord visant à prolonger de quelques jours le budget fédéral du pays, évitant ainsi un arrêt des activités du gouvernement samedi. Les élus démocrates et républicains se sont accordés sur le principe de l'accord qui prolonge le budget jusqu'au 8 mars. Un vote aura lieu jeudi sur un autre projet de loi de financement temporaire destiné à financer les agences gouvernementales pendant deux semaines supplémentaires après cette date. Les législateurs examineront également 12 projets de loi annuels finançant divers programmes fédéraux pour l'exercice fiscal américain qui se termine le 30 septembre.
