China has upgraded the national earthquake emergency response to Level II after a magnitude-6.2 earthquake jolted northwest China on December 18, killing more than 110 people. The quake jolted Jishishan County in Gansu Province, five kilometers from the border between Gansu and Qinghai provinces.
