En Corée du Sud, le gouvernement a dépêché lundi des médecins militaires et des médecins des centres de santé publique dans les hôpitaux touchés par la grève. 138 médecins du secteur public et 20 médecins militaires ont été mobilisés pour aider à soigner les patients affectés par la récente grève. Depuis vendredi dernier, plus de 12 000 médecins stagiaires ont quitté leurs postes dans 100 hôpitaux, pour protester contre les plans du gouvernement visant à augmenter le nombre d'admissions dans les écoles de médecine. Dans le contexte des fortes intempéries qui ont frappé l'Indonésie, le bilan s'est alourdi à au moins 26 morts et 11 personnes ont été portées disparues dans la province du Sumatra-Occidental, après des jours d'inondations et de glissements de terrain. Depuis jeudi dernier, les pluies torrentielles qui se sont abattues sur la capitale de la province, Padang, et sur huit autres régions ont forcé l'évacuation de plus de 70 000 personnes. Près de 700 maisons, de nombreux ponts, des écoles et des terres agricoles ont été endommagés. Les autorités ont indiqué que les personnes évacuées se rassemblaient dans les mosquées voisines et qu'elles avaient reçu de la nourriture, de l'eau potable et des médicaments. Elles ont mis en garde contre de nouveaux dégâts causés par les inondations et les glissements de terrain, alors que des pluies sont attendues dans les prochains jours.
