FAO has launched a program for digital information and surveillance of observatory systems in Nakasongola, Kiryandongo, and Kabale Districts. This program aims to empower communities and improve food security, nutrition, health, and the environment. It will also support the districts in establishing resilient food management systems. By implementing this program, Kabale residents will have the opportunity to create more jobs, increase their daily income, and contribute to the country's economic development.

The Ugx closed at 3770/3810 (street market sources) and commercial banks the shilling stronger at 3770/3780 supported by hard currency inflows during the session. From the bond market, the central bank is scheduled to hold a 3-year and 20-year Treasury Bond auction on Wednesday 12 June 2024. From the stock market, two USE-listed equities participated in trading, ending with seven gainers and just one loser. KCB Group led the gainers with 2.01% share price appreciation closing at UGX 1,073.48 per share, followed by Jubilee Holdings (+1.02%), Centum Investment (+0.88%), and East African Breweries (+0.21%). The only equity that lost value on the day was Stanbic Bank Uganda (-0.03%). Ahead of the 72 trillion FY 2024/25 national budget reading this Thursday, civil society organizations urged the government to take caution of risky ventures or capital-intensive projects where it continues to invest billions of money, which has derived little value. Civil society and policy and budget experts have pointed out projects such as the Shs 723 billion shillings given to DEI pharmaceuticals, the presidential initiative on the banana crop, which has so far received Shs 400 billion, and other projects like Atiak sugar and Lubowa hospital. Fifty-two thousand nine hundred and thirty-two nursing students from one hundred and thirty-three centers have started their exams. The students are being examined for the diploma in nursing and midwifery as well as certificate levels, nationwide. The family of the late Hawa Nantongo, a Senior Five student at Wampeewo Ntakke Secondary School in Wakiso district, is calling for justice after her death was adjudged a suicide. The relatives report that they found wounds on her body, raising questions about whether their daughter was killed or if she committed suicide.
