Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has branded Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as “weak” for his failure to appropriately deal with the supermarket duopoly of Coles and Woolworths. “I think Coles and Woolies have got it all over the Prime Minister – they see him as most Australians do and that is weak and unable to make a tough decision,” Mr Dutton told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “For months, and months, and months, and months nothing has happened. “It is like everything this government does – they promise a review, they seek advice from a consultant.” Mr Dutton claimed the Prime Minister was “incapable” of making decisions in the best interest of the country. “The government I lead will make sure Coles and Woolies deliver the best outcomes, I don’t want to see them screwing over customers or farmers or suppliers," he added. “The job of the Prime Minister is to make decisions in our country’s best interest and this Prime Minister seems to be incapable of doing that.”

Sky News contributor Kristin Tate says former US president Donald Trump needs another debate to gain back momentum. This comes as Mr Trump refuses to do another debate against Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris ahead of the November election. “He needs another defining moment to seize back some of those percentage points that he has lost in the last couple of weeks,” Ms Tate told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

Sky News host Chris Kenny has reacted to US President Joe Biden’s “bizarre” reaction to a helicopter passing over while he was hosting a media conference with Quad leaders. President Biden joked that the helicopter flying “isn’t armed”. “Talk about weakness, what about the bloke who’s still in the White House, still the leader of the free world,” Mr Kenny said. “Joe Biden this week, a couple of stuff ups, but let’s pick one of them – here he is where he spots a helicopter while he’s hosting the Quad leaders. “Apart from being bizarre and seemingly befuddled, it’s relatively in poor taste ... to tell everyone to relax; it’s not armed.”

The US government has proposed plans to prohibit the use of key hardware and software from China in new vehicles. The ban on Chinese-made smart car software and hardware in the American domestic market would hit the EV manufacturer BYD, and some 140 other brands, hard. El Gobierno ha decidido aplazar la votación de la senda del déficit en el Congreso debido a la falta de apoyos, según fuentes del propio Ejecutivo a RTVE. Concretamente, no vuelve a contar con los siete votos clave de Junts. La votación, por tanto, no se producirá en este pleno, ante la falta de apoyos parlamentarios y el escenario de una nueva derrota en el Congreso. A falta de fijar una nueva fecha, será la cuarta vez que el Congreso debata unos objetivos de estabilidad este año. Israeli air defenses intercepted a barrage of rockets fired by Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon at northern Israel late in the day on Monday (September 23).
