Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Anthony Albanese is seen as linked “too closely” to the former US president Joe Biden. Mr Clennell said that is a “problem” for the Prime Minister. “On the Labor side, they think that if Dutton aligns himself too much to Trump, that could put a lot of voters off,” he said.

Curtin University Professor of Global Futures Joe Siracusa claims the United States is “at war” with the Houthis from Yemen following the Trump administration’s recent attacks. The Trump administration launched a series of airstrikes on Yemen targeting the Houthis over the weekend, a few days after the militant group said they would again start up attacks on ships in the Red Sea. “The United States is at war with Yemen, with the Houthis, and regards it as a rogue nation ... who have attacked American interests in the area,” Professor Siracusa told Sky News Australia.

President of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten, had a “complete meltdown” during an interview on MSNBC. Her reaction came in response to the announcement that the US Department of Education will slash about half its workforce. The cutting of the Department of Education falls in line with US President Donald Trump’s plan to cut spending in the federal government. President Trump, alongside billionaire Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, has cracked down on waste in the government. Trump vowed to eliminate the Department of Education and withhold funding from any entity incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion in educational practices. In response to the announcement of the Department of Education cutting its workforce, Weingarten blasted the Trump administration, labelling them as “cowards”. “Have the fight with the 65 per cent of Americans who believe we need to have an education department," she said. “What it does is it levels the playing field so all kids can have opportunity and that is what they are cutting and when they cut half the people, it’s like evisceration by a thousand cuts. “You want to do this, have the fight with us in Congress, let’s make sure we get the issues out there. “I’m so mad, I’m spitting mad about this because it’s hurting the people who can’t vote, children don’t vote, let’s not take away their opportunities.”

US President Donald Trump’s approval rating is at an all-time high, according to a new poll. The NBC News Poll shows 47 per cent of voters approve of President Trump while 51 per cent disapprove. However, 54 per cent said they disapproved of his handling of the economy — the first time he’s lost a majority on that issue in NBC’s poll.
