The Chief Magistrate of Kapchorwa, Lucy Kabahuma, has granted bail to 8 out of the 31 people who were arrested on 29th December last year for criminal trespass on the land. The affected land measures over 3,000 acres in Gamungei Cell, Chepsukunya Town Council, Kween District. The suspects are accused of attempting to take over the land of over 47 families. A week after local artiste Moses Kigambo Araali collapsed and died at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital from reported neglect, the Ministry of Health has moved to dismiss the director, Dr. Alex Adaku. The grandmothers' cohort of MaryHill High School alumni have reunited and joined hands to build and develop their former school. During their three-day reunion, the 1961 to 1974 old girls' cohort, under their umbrella organization MaryHill Old Girls Association (MOGA), had a feel of school life by sleeping on small beds and pledged to continue supporting their former school in various developments. The alumni association chairperson, Christine Kenema, said the old girls committed themselves to raising 1 billion shillings to help in the construction of a standard dormitory and a classroom block to support the school, as the number of learners has increased. The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, has today launched the second edition of the Busoga Cycling Championship, through counties, or Masaza. The event saw all cyclists from the 11 chiefdoms gather at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja City. MTN Uganda will support this second edition of the Busoga Masaza Cycling Championship 2025, intended to support the institution in inspiring men and boys to combat the prevalence of teenage pregnancy in this sub-region. Uganda's teenage pregnancy rate is 25%. Agriculture sector budget - Low budget allocation hinders the development of the agriculture sector.
The Executive Director of the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group Julius Mukunda says the low budget allocation to the agriculture sector has hindered the implementation of the Maputo and Malabo Protocols, which call for African countries to allocate 10% of their national budgets to agriculture. This revelation was made during an interview with UBC TV, where Mukunda discussed Uganda's budget allocation for the sector.
