The new Minister responsible for crime prevention, Kirk Humphrey has been speaking about his plans to address crime in Barbados. According to him, dealing with it will not be an overnight event. He's thanked the former Minister Corey Lane and Attorney General Dale Marshall for the efforts made through various initiatives. However Mr. Humphrey, a guest on the People's Business, says many people do not fully understand the level of work which has gone into the programmes. Fusionz Boutique Station Hill Cavaliers were the biggest winners last night, when the Co-operators General Insurance BABA Premier League continued at the BCC Gym. The Cavs crushed CAM Smart Assurance Agent Inc. Heat by 68 points - 113 to 45. Gavin Phillips led the Cavs with a game-high 27 points. Pinelands also held on to beat NSC Combined Schools Tridents 67 to 63. In the two other matches played, defending champions Burger King Clapham Bulls moved to 17 points with a win over Warrens All Stars. Meanwhile, 246 Mobile Shop City United Celtics took down Island Care Ambulance Service & Body By B Lakers and remain top of the table with 18 points. The 2025 Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships resume tomorrow with day one of the Frank Blackman and Sada Williams Zone at the Usain Bolt Complex. Among those represented will be the Parkinson Memorial athletics team, decked out in new gear this year thanks to major sponsorship from Goddard Enterprises Limited. Now called the "Parkinson Pumas", the team strolled through the school hall in full gear during a sports rally recently. Human Resources Executive of Goddard Enterprises Lee-Ann Millar-Mendes says the company will stand by the Parkinson team as a proud partner. Principal Captain Adrian Ward reminded the student body of the significance of the partnership. It was a goalfest in the latest round of the Republic Cup National Youth League when Georgia FC defeated TJ’s Sporting Academy in the Under-17 Division. Georgia's Jaheim Toney scored six goals in the process, as we take a look at that encounter and much more.
Trinidad and Tobago long jumper Kelsey Daniel set a new national record in the Men's long jump, with a leap of 8.16 metres, to claim gold at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division One Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia. Daniel, who was representing the University of Texas, also set a new school record with his mark. Also competing at the championships was T&T and University of Alabama shot putter Christopher Crawford, who placed 10th in the Men's shot put, with his best mark being that of 19.04 metres. Ohio State University's Leah Bertrand placed 13th in the women's 60-metre dash, clocking a time of 7.27 seconds.
The first leg of the 117th Trinidad & Tobago Open concluded successfully at the Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort in Tobago, showcasing intense competition across multiple flights.
