LNP Senator James McGrath says Australian universities need to have a “hard look” at themselves. Australian universities are accused of awarding degrees to students who lack basic English skills. “The failure to understand basic understand basic English that is not just letting down Australian students, but is actually letting down those students from overseas,” Mr McGrath told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “Everyone is being ripped off here, apart from the Universities who are milking these students as cash cows. “Universities need to have a good hard look at themselves and work out what business are they in? “Are they in the business of ripping off people or are they in the business of educating people?”
