'People carry knives because there's a fear factor': What life is like for young gang
A teenage gang member has told Sky News he carries a knife because "when you're around those people, you kind of have no choice but to do it". He says he fears leaving the house and running into a rival gang unarmed. It comes as the sentencing of two of Britain's youngest ever knife killers gets underway after the murder of a 19-year-old man in a random machete attack last year. Two 12-year-old boys were convicted in June of killing Shawn Seesahai in Wolverhampton. The West Midlands is the worst region in the UK for knife crime.
