'Prospect' of a female US President important for women 'around the world'

Regional Development Minister Kristy McBain says the “prospect” of a female US president in Kamala Harris is important for women “around the world”. Joe Biden has ended his re-election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate. “Any woman around the world likes to know there are places they can go to be elected, that there are people they can look up to,” Ms McBain told Sky News Australia. “We saw in Australia when Julia Gillard was the first female prime minister, that it spurred a whole bunch of women. “It is really important we have both men and women putting themselves forward for election, even more so when its the prospect of a first female leader in the United States.”
