'Real mistake': Jim Chalmers overhauls Future Fund mandate

Sky News host Peta Credlin has discussed Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ major changes to the investment mandate of Australia’s $230 billion Future Fund to direct funds to Labor’s agenda. “I think it’ll be an election issue if it is properly explained to Australians because the government has to pay these pensions. The fund right now pays them, and the capital keeps increasing, and they run off the interest, and people can understand that pretty simply,” Ms Credlin said. “So this is why it matters to Australians today because it’s the opportunity cost it’s the money lost on all the other things the budget right now has to fund that we need you know quite immediately and I think Labor’s made a real mistake here.”
