'Smurfing': Election fundraising tactic raising eyebrows in the United States

Government Accountability Institute President and Author Peter Schweizer joined Sky News host James Morrow to discuss a potential election manipulation technique called "surfing". “Smurfing is basically a way to steer large sums of money to political candidates, to get around campaign donation limits,” Mr Schweizer said. Mr Schweizer continued, explaining smurfing has been a "particular problem" on a platform in the United States called ‘ActBlue’. “It’s been a big problem,” he said. “There are individuals who have given allegedly eight to ten thousand small donations to candidates, numbering some $360,000.”
