Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking after the military confirmed it had killed Hamas leader Yahaya Sinwar on Thursday, said there could be an end to the war in Gaza if Hamas laid down their arms and returned all hostages. Sinwar, the mastermind of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack that triggered the Gaza war, has been killed by Israeli forces in the Palestinian enclave, Israel said earlier. His killing marks a huge success for Israel and a pivotal event in the year-long conflict.
