'Turning point': Does Donald Trump's victory mark the end of woke culture?

IPA Director of Research Morgan Begg has weighed in on recent comments that there are growing signs across the West that universities and businesses are finally seeing through the woke agenda. In a piece for The Times, American author Lionel Shriver wrote that “across the non-left media world, it's now an article of faith that Donald Trump's emphatic victory is a woke watershed.” Mr Begg, in an interview with Sky News host James Macpherson, agreed that Trump's victory could be a watershed moment. "The Democratic Party represented the politics of woke, and Trump's victory was in a sense a referendum on those ideas," he said. However, Mr Begg cautioned that it's not just an American story, and that the implications of this shift will be felt across the Western world, including in Australia.
