100 CAPE Scholarships Awarded
One hundred scholarships have been awarded to students who sat this year’s Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations or CAPE. The Ministry of Education says for Academic Year 2023/2024, there are 38 Open and 62 Additional Scholarships. Of the 100 scholarships, 55% were awarded to female students, while forty-five 45 % were awarded to male students. Teddy Mohammed of Hillview College and Alicia Dipchan of St. Joseph’s Convent, the two top performing students in the Exams, will receive the CAPE President Medal. Teddy Mohammed is the top performing student in Environmental Studies, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, while Alicia Dipchan is the top performing student in Business Studies, Creative and Performing Studies, General Studies, Language Studies, Modern Studies/Humanities and Technical Studies. Among the schools receiving the most number of CAPE scholarships are: Presentation College Chaguanas with 10, Naparima College - 9, Hillview College and Presentation College San Fernando both received eight, while St. Joseph Convent, Port of Spain and St. Augustine Girls High School both attained seven.
