16 killed in Israeli strike on Gaza's Al-Mawasi: Doctor at Nasser hospital

Israeli shelling killed 16 Palestinians in Khan Younis on Thursday — in a southern coastal area of the Gaza Strip packed with people who had fled attacks in other parts of the enclave — Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry officials said. The dead included nine children, an official told Reuters. Israeli shells had landed near tents erected in the area by displaced people, they added. Reuters footage showed a large crater with debris around it in Gaza's Al-Mawasi area where the strike hit. Bodies wrapped in cloth and bags were lined up outside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where people gathered to pray. The Israeli military reported several clashes in Khan Younis, where it has said previously that it is trying to flush out Hamas leaders hiding there.
