17-year-old Singaporean detained just weeks before planned terror attack in Tampines
A 17-year-old self-radicalised Singaporean was arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) just weeks before his plan to carry out a terror attack in Tampines. Speaking to the media on Friday (Oct 18), Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said the youth was inspired by Islamic State (ISIS) propaganda and knew that he would be intercepted by the authorities. "He had made up his mind to die in the course of the attack because he wanted to become a martyr," Mr Shanmugam said.
