2 bombings near Pakistan candidates’ offices kill at least 26 on election eve
On Wednesday, two explosions occurred near electoral candidates’ offices in Balochistan, Pakistan killing at least 26 people and injuring dozens, according to local officials. This has raised concerns over voter security on the eve of a general election. The first blast took place at the office of an independent election candidate in Pishin district and the second explosion in Qila Saifullah, a town near the Afghan border, according to the province's information minister. Authorities are boosting security at polling booths as Pakistan goes to the polls on Thursday, amid rising militant attacks in recent months and the jailing of the former prime minister Imran Khan.
