Andrea Franklin has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. The announcement was made at a press conference late this afternoon. Tourism Minister Ian Gooding-Edghill, flanked by the Chairman Shelly Williams, explained how the new CEO was chosen. The Minister says Ms. Franklin brings 20 years of experience in the tourism industry to the job and is qualified in tourism management and project management. She worked with the Barbados Tourism Authority as Manager, Product Integration from May 2007 to April 2010, as well as with Air Jamaica. He says along with marketing experience in a private sector environment she also transitioned a state-owned enterprise into a successful private-public partnership arrangement, namely the Caves of Barbados where she was the CEO. Her appointment is effective from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2027. Mr. Gooding-Edhill says the Board of Directors has also agreed that the new CEO will be supported by a Chief Operations Officer. Cheryl Carter will be appointed to that post. She will manage the operational functions of the organisation in order to facilitate the streamlining of skills and core functions so the CEO can focus on the strategic direction of the entity.
