50 years on, Hello Kitty still wields plenty of soft power

Japan's Hello Kitty is marking a milestone. For 50 years, the iconic character has adorned almost everything from keychains to entire airplanes. Anticipation over her celebrations bumped up parent company Sanrio's profits, which exceeded ¥10 billion for the first time ever in Q2. Michiyo Ishida reports.
