This week marks 70 years since the death of a renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, depicted in various spots around Mexico City, symbolising Mexican identity. Her story of overcoming adversity is shared through her art. She is now internationally recognised, particularly by women. A recent documentary uses her journals to narrate her experiences with infidelity, heartbreak, chronic illness, and miscarriage. Her home and studio continue to draw crowds, eager to glimpse her works and life. For many in her homeland, she remains their beloved Mexican icon who broke the mould.
