A WIN FOR MP MPUUGA AND OTHERS? - Court rules on service award blaming the clerk to Parliament
The former leader of opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has disagreed with the High Court ruling that the clerk to Parliament should face disciplinary action over the 1.7 billion shillings shared by the Parliamentary back bench Commissioners. In the ruling, Justice Douglas Singiza puts it that the termed 1.7 billion service award was approved by Parliament under the clear supervision of the Clerk to Parliament and the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development which contravenes their respective lines of duty. Mpuuga who was among the beneficiaries of the service award defends the clerk to Parliament who he says was not given room to be heard by Court. Nevertheless, the MPS pursuing a censure motion to remove the Back Bench Commissioners are not moved by the court ruling on the similar matter. Daniel Mugoya Reports from Parliament
