Abu Ghraib abuses: Former Iraqi detainees awarded $42 million
A US court has awarded 42 million dollars to three Iraqi men who say they were tortured in Abu Ghraib prison two decades ago. The jury found that an American civilian defense contractor was legally responsible for the mistreatment of detainees. The prison was located thirty kilometers west of Baghdad; it operated as a US Army detention centre for captured Iraqis from 2003 to 2006.
