Accelerate efforts to meet 90-70-90 targets

The Pan American Health Organisation, PAHO wants Barbados and the Caribbean to urgently accelerate efforts to meet the goal of the 90-70-90 targets to put the world on course to eliminating cervical cancer. PAHO wants 90% of girls vaccinated against human papillomavirus, HPV by age 15; 70 % of women screened by age 35 and again by age 45, and 90 % of people diagnosed with cervical disease treated. Assistant director, Dr. Rhonda Sealy-Thomas acknowledged that while ambitious, the region of the Americas can meet the set targets. She was among the panel for a briefing session titled Cervical Cancer Elimination: Advancing the Call to Action in the Americas.
