‘Adopt a commonsense approach’: ‘Diverse range’ of energy sources needed

Victorian Opposition leader John Pesutto has called for a “commonsense approach” to energy generation with a “diverse range of renewable sources”. Federal Liberal leader Peter Dutton has called for nuclear power in Australia to avoid dependence on renewables like wind and solar. “I’ve said previously that we’re open to it [nuclear energy],” Mr Pesutto told Sky News Australia. “I think there are a few things we need to bear in mind. “We’re certainly open to it, and we certainly understand and believe that in the decades ahead, let’s be reasonable – let’s adopt a commonsense approach – we’re going need a diverse range of renewable sources of energy and energy sources that can be deployed when other sources are out of action.”
