Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus says there seems to be a “two-tiered system” when it comes to the AFL. Female footballers say the AFL’s open policy allowing transgender players to compete at a community level is putting women’s safety at risk and trashing fairness. “When it comes to community level footy – which can include 16-year-old girls or women in their 50s and anything in between – it seems there is a complete open door policy,” Ms Marcus said. “You basically just have to identify as a woman, use the right pronouns and you’re allowed to throw on a jersey and play against women.”
