AI experts say new policy and strategy in the offing

As Uganda prepares to revise the Data Privacy and Protection Act of 2019, the government is laying the groundwork for new legislation focused on artificial intelligence (AI). This includes drafting an AI Act, policy, and comprehensive strategy aimed at regulating the use of AI to curb the spread of fake videos and misinformation across digital platforms. Collaborating with the legal community, academia, and the United Nations, the government aims to accelerate the establishment of regulations for emerging technologies like AI.
