AI system analyses human gaits, alerts caregivers if person is about to fall

AI technology is being used to spot when someone is about to fall, by monitoring how they walk. The system was developed by Nanyang Polytechnic and a local medtech firm. It is on trial at SGH and some eldercare homes. CNA spoke to the expert behind the AI system, Dr Phua Chee Teck, who is Director at the School of Engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic.
