AIEF scholarship program helps 1,000 students complete Year 12

Lilly See Kee has applauded a scholarship program supported by the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation which has now helped 1,000 students complete Year 12. Ms See Kee is a Torres Strait Islander woman from Queensland's Thursday Island and served as a First Nations Student Representative at her school. “The scholarship has helped me with everything you can think of,” she told Sky News Australia. “It is not just my school fees they help me with – they help me to make sure I always have the right uniform and school supplies, and they just helped me apply to uni.” The AIEF scholarship graduate revealed her plans to study speech pathology at university and eventually go back and help her Thursday Island community.
