Alaska Airlines plane makes emergency landing after window panel blows out
A U.S.-based Alaska Airlines plane made an emergency landing after a window panel blew out after takeoff on a flight from Portland to Ontario. The U.S. air safety regulator announced on January 6 it was grounding and ordering inspections on some Boeing 737 MAX 9 airplanes after the flight with 177 people onboard landed safely back in Portland. Around 171 aircraft worldwide will be affected, with each inspection taking four to eight hours, said the Federal Aviation Administration. Alaska and United Airlines fly the largest number of MAX 9 planes. Boeing has so far delivered some 218 737 MAX 9 planes, said the company.
