Prime Minster Anthony Albanese has confirmed citizenship ceremonies will be held on Australia Day. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton committed to forcing councils to hold ceremonies on January 26, and the Prime Minister has stated his government would also be sticking to the contentious date. Mr Albanese said his council will hold it on Australia Day, and he’ll be “here in Canberra at the national event.” “I encourage Peter Dutton to come to the national event. I always did when I was opposition leader.”
