Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles says the Albanese government is “definitely going to listen” to the result in Dunkley and will try to “understand how we can better operate”. The by-election, on Saturday, was held following the passing of Labor MP Peta Murphy. Sky News has predicted Labor will retain the seat with the election of Jodi Belyea. “We are definitely going to be listening to this, trying to understand how we can better operate,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia. “I think that the thing right now is the primary vote has held up, which is a huge achievement for Jodie. “We feel very confident in our prime minister, such that he has been here as often as he could through the course of this campaign.”
