Alexei Navalny’s body returned to his mother, says spokesperson

The body of Alexei Navalny has been handed over to his mother after reportedly agreeing to a 'secret burial'. The Russian Opposition leader died last week in a prison in Siberia where he was serving his three-decade sentence. Alexei Navalny spokesperson Kira Yarmysh wrote on X, "Alexei’s body was given to his mother. Thank you very much to everyone who demanded this with us". Ms Yarmysh went on to say in the tweet “the funeral is still pending” and it was unclear if authorities would "interfere" with how it is carried out. "We will provide information as it becomes available," she said.
