Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater brings special performances to Detroit for its 2025 U.S. Tour
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is coming to the Detroit Opera House March 14-16 as part of their nationwide tour. Their performances will celebrate the life and legacy of Judith Jamison, the group’s late artistic director emerita. This year marks the 25th anniversary of “Grace,” one of their classic productions. American Black Journal host Stephen Henderson talks with “Grace” choreographer Ronald K. Brown about the inspiration for the piece as well as Jamison’s major impact on his career.
