American sustainable development economist, Prof. Jeffery Sachs, is concerned about the billions of dollars being diverted to sustain armed conflicts across the world, yet that money would create a greater impact if it's invested in the promotion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Prof. Sachs is widely recognized for bold and effective strategies to address complex challenges including the escape from extreme poverty, the global battle against human-induced climate change, international debt and financial crises, national economic reforms and the control of pandemic and epidemic diseases among others.
