As world celebrates Christmas, Bethlehem’s streets are silent

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are marking a somber Christmas during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, which has killed over 20,000 Gazans since early October. Palestinian Christians held Christmas vigils in Bethlehem, singing hymns and prayers for peace instead of the usual festivities. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said IDF forces were going deeper in Gaza but admitted that the country’s military has paid a “heavy price” in the conflict. Saturday was one of the deadliest days, with 14 deaths killed in the Palestinian territory.
