Asia’s future energy decisions will have ‘material’ impact on world’s climate goals: US official

The choices made by Asia’s governments about their future energy pathways are going to have a material impact on the world’s success in meeting its shared climate goals, says Geoffrey R Pyatt, assistant secretary at the United States’ Department of Energy’s Bureau of Energy Resources. Under the Paris agreement, nations agreed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius to minimise further dangerous levels of climate change. In an interview with CNA’s Roland Lim on the sidelines of the Singapore International Energy Week summit, he adds that the region is ‘critically important’ in supply chains.
