Assoc Prof Eugene Tan on judge's sentencing decisions in S Iswaran case

Former transport minister S Iswaran has been sentenced to 12 months in prison in a high-profile criminal case that brought an end to his 27-year political career. He had obtained gifts worth about S$403,300 over seven years. In a surprise decision by the court, his punishment was double what the prosecution sought.
