‘Astonishing’: Douglas Murray hits out at Angela Merkel

Author Douglas Murray has commented on some of the “major geostrategic mistakes” made by Angela Merkel during her time as Chancellor of Germany. Mr Murray said some of the decisions she made – such as making Germany and Europe dominant on Russian gas – are still reverberating across the world. “She used emotion to make one of the worst decisions that have been made in our lifetimes in Europe, which was the decision that Europe's external borders should be opened and that over a million illegal migrants from all over the world should be allowed to just flood into Europe,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “Something which is still happening because of the laxity of her border approach.”
