At least 24 dead and 23 missing in LA wildfires

The mayor of Los Angeles is refusing to apologise for the way she has handled the wildfire crisis.  More than 92,000 people remain under evacuation orders. At least 24 people have died and 23 remain unaccounted for. Police have arrested 24 people, including some people who were carrying guns. Firefighters have been gaining the upper hand on the blazes. The weakest of the three, the Hurst fire, is 95 per cent contained. The Palisades and Eaton fires remain largely out of control. Crews are dealing with a total of 124 wildfires. Almost 21,000 emergency responses have been received – while more than 12,300 structures have been destroyed.
