AUKUS revamp may commit Australia to US ‘defence strategies’

Former Howard government minister Peter McGauran says the concern around the AUKUS revamp is whether or not it commits Australia to “American defence strategies”. There’s been a development on the AUKUS deal, with Defence Minister Richard Marles signing off on a revamped agreement. “I think it’s very much about technology transfer, but it has caused former prime minister Paul Keating to attack AUKUS again,” Mr McGauran told Sky News Australia.
