AUKUS set to boost SA infrastructure in the nation's 'most decisive' decade yet
The biggest names in South Australian business and politics have come together to discuss the state’s economic opportunities with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at The Advertiser's Future SA forum. Mr Albanese has assured Labor Premier Peter Malinauskas the building of nuclear-powered submarines under the AUKUS agreement will be a cornerstone of the state’s economy for years to come. SA Premier Peter Malinauskas pointed to the US reducing their submarine construction underneath the levels required to meet the AUKUS contract as an increased reason for his state’s economy to kickstart their own defence structures. The Prime Minister labelled Australia’s current decade as the “most decisive” yet where a large part of its future achievements could be attributed to South Australia. Millions of dollars in infrastructure funding for the state continues to wait in the wings as the Albanese government prepares to announce which construction company will be assigned the AUKUS project.
