Austal awarded $670 million contract to expand its production facility

Australian ship building company Austal’s American subsidiary has been awarded a $670 million contract to expand its production facility at its US shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. The money will be used to enhance Austal’s existing infrastructure; to allow it to help the US Navy build one Columbia class and two Virginia class submarines each year. Construction of the new module fabrication and outfitting facility will be complete by 2026.
