Australian taxpayers face ‘stitch up’ from renewable investors requesting govt subsidies

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says renewable investors do not need government subsidies to succeed as they should just be able to “sell” the product to the Australian people. “It is a stitch up of Australian taxpayers,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “It is also quite revealing as well … backers and supporters of renewables they are asking for more subsidies. “Itself undermines their own arguments which are made separately that renewable energy is the cheapest form of power. “You don’t need government subsidies to succeed, you just need to sell the product.”
