Sky News contributor Gary Hardgrave says Australian universities are “heavily geared” around paying their staff “big dollars”. Australian universities are accused of awarding degrees to students who lack basic English skills. “Universities have this sort of two-edged sword,” Mr McGrath told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “They’re going to get sliced and diced no matter which way they go. “Some courses they can’t run unless they have a large cohort of international full fee-paying students actually in the course. “So Australian students who on merit get to do that course, may not find that course available. “Universities are so heavily geared around … paying their vice-chancellors big dollars.”
