‘Australians are doing it tough’: RBA urged to realise economy is ‘slowing down’

Hawker Britton co-founder Bruce Hawker has urged the Reserve Bank to “realise the economy is slowing down” and Australians are doing it “tough”. Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Finance Minister Katy Gallagher handed down the government’s Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook on Wednesday. “I am still to be convinced that the RBA is going to go down the path of cutting interest rates,” Mr Hawker told Sky News Australia. “I think they should go and have a look at other people’s economies, the economies of people in everyday Australia, and see how tough they’re doing it and realise the economy is slowing down.”
